Rope and Pull System

A rope and pull system is a simple but effective way
to roll up a garage screen using screw eyes and rope.

Porch Panel Screen Rope and Pull System

Using screw eyes and rope only no pulleys note the the rope goes under the screen and does not attach to the rope and up thru the eye screws that have been statageticly located on the upper dor jam the screw eyes TO ROLL UP A PORCH SCREEN INCLUDE THE PHYICS and the rope and pulls system will roll the screen straight up into a nice formed roll if you are patient and slowly the pull rope.

Unlike pulleys, this system uses the friction between the rope and the screw eyes to roll up the screen.

To begin with, the screw eyes are strategically located on the upper door jam in a straight line. The distance between each screw eye depends on the size of the screen and the desired tension. The rope is then threaded through the screw eyes, with the end of the rope left hanging.

To roll up the screen, one must grab the rope and pull it slowly and patiently. The screen will roll up into a nice, formed roll. The key to this system is the friction between the rope and the screw eyes. As the rope is pulled, it creates tension between the screw eyes and the rope. This tension causes the screen to roll up as the rope is pulled through the screw eyes.

The physics behind this system can be explained using the concept of friction. Friction is the force that opposes motion between two surfaces that are in contact with each other. In this case, the rope and the screw eyes are the two surfaces in contact with each other. As the rope is pulled through the screw eyes, the friction between the rope and the screw eyes creates a force that causes the screen to roll up.

The amount of friction depends on the materials used for the rope and the screw eyes. If the rope is made of a material that is slippery, such as nylon, it will have less friction with the screw eyes, and the system may not work as well. On the other hand, if the rope is made of a material that is rough, such as hemp or sisal, it will have more friction with the screw eyes, and the system will work better.

In addition to the materials used, the diameter of the rope and the size of the screw eyes also affect the amount of friction. A larger diameter rope will have more surface area in contact with the screw eyes, creating more friction. Similarly, smaller screw eyes will have less surface area in contact with the rope, creating less friction.

In conclusion, a rope and pull system using screw eyes and rope is a simple and effective way to roll up a garage screen. The friction between the rope and the screw eyes creates a force that causes the screen to roll up as the rope is pulled. The amount of friction depends on the materials used and the size of the rope and screw eyes. With patience and a slow, steady pull, the screen will roll up into a nice, formed roll.
